Our April 2023 concert project, ODE TO THE EARTH AND SKY: New Music for Organ & Choir, features seven world premieres commissioned by Vox Musica. We asked our composers to investigate poetry relating to the earth and sky as inspiration for their exploration of composing new works for organ and women’s voices. The result is a collection of newly composed repertoire that speaks to different perspectives, from Molly Pease’s exploration of suffocating anxiety and depression in “Pyroclasm” to Dan Forrest’s heartful expression of unconditional love in“The Sun Never Says.”This amazing concert project leans into a dynamic range of emotion, and we hope our performance will transport our listeners to a place where they might have a renewed relationship with our Earth and Sky. It is our intention that our patrons will experience reflection, awe, and wonder. We hope our concert will inspire you to value our earth and sky in new ways.
